Kaoru Hashimoto, a notable pianist who received the Judge's Special Award at the "International Songwriting Competition 2018," the largest composition competition in the United States, has released his full album "One Step Beyond" after three years. The album features a simple piano trio that showcases a wide range of Hashimoto's musical styles, including the lead single "Shine," recorded in a one-take at the "Roman-Za," faithfully restored to its original 1916 (Taisho 5) decoration, located on the first floor of the former Koga Bank in Saga City, Saga Prefecture. Other standout tracks include the fast-paced lead track "One Step Beyond," the session-like feel of "Fairy Tale," which recalls Roy Hargrove, and the exquisite 6-minute jazz ballad "Touga." This album is a showcase of the piano trio's ability to express various moods and emotions through simple arrangements.
